THERE IS A CRISIS IN OUR COMMUNITY.
Family Homelessness Increase
Child Poverty Rate
Too many children are going to sleep each night without a bed to call their own.
In fact, mothers with children are the fastest growing segment of the homeless population. We’re all just one crisis away from being in their shoes. The only way we will change this heartbreaking reality is by working together.
Family homelessness in Cleveland is on the rise. The response needed to change this crisis is equally as complex and challenging as the circumstances that led to homelessness in the first place. Homelessness increases the number of life challenges and the severity of these circumstances, especially for our youngest population.
Children experiencing homelessness are more likely to be victims of violence, suffer from depression and anxiety, perform poorly and drop out of school, and even attempt suicide at higher rates than children who have a stable home.
