What Am I Doing?
“I didn’t care about my future,” Jenna admits. She left home at 16 and dropped out of school. For the next five years, she “partied every day.”
Then Jenna met some old high school friends and saw what she had missed out on. “They had graduated from high school and college. They had jobs and cars. I said to myself, ‘What am I doing with my life?’ I had to change my whole mindset!”
Setting Her Sights
Jenna came to Laura’s Home with little more than the clothes on her back and a strong will to succeed. “I was living off an $8-an-hour job,” she recalls. “I couldn’t do it anymore. I needed a high school diploma.”
With help from Laura’s Home staff and volunteers, Jenna completed the women’s program, earned her diploma, and is on her way to becoming an EMT. She also started a GED study group at The City Mission to help other men and women achieve their career goals.

A New Mindset
Thanks to you, Jenna looks forward to earning a bachelor’s degree in political science and volunteering at Laura’s Home. “I want women here to know if I could change, anybody can change. God takes the unqualified and qualifies them. I never thought He could turn me into this person.”
