How You Can Help Those In Need

The City Mission offers many different opportunities to make a difference in the lives of the people we serve. Here is just a brief list of opportunities:

8 Ways to Help the Homeless - summary of some of the things that can help meet practical needs and bring hope to the homeless.

Professional services - donating your services, providing a seminar, training staff members, doing a life skill session or speaking to those in our residential program or students in Pathways.

  • Special need for doctors and nurses to volunteer for a few hours a month providing wellness checks at Laura's

Home.

  • Click on the Volunteer tab and Ministries tab at the top of any of our webpages for details.

Employment opportunites for our residents - When our residents in Crossroads or Laura's Home reach phase 3 of their program, they are in full job search mode. If you know of job openings or would be willing to consider interviewing qualified candidates, please contact Micha

Internship opportunities for our students - Senior high students in our Pathways can earn up to $10,000 in scholarships for college or job training. We are looking for corporations and organizations who would be willing to provide summer internships to help them gain job experience and continue to encourage them to make good choices in their lives for a better future.

Volunteering - So much is accomplished at The City Mission by volunteers. It could be a one-time service project, a regular staff volunteer position, or an on-going mentoring relationship with a student or an adult resident. Click on the Volunteer tab at the top of any of our webpages for details.

Donations

  • Cash or material gifts: this type of assistance can come in many ways. Check out the Giving tab at the top of any page for details.
  • Donating tickets to sports, movies, concerts, plays, other cultural events, museaums or other events - opportunities to attend events or go on field trips are fun and exciting for to those in our Pathways Youth Program or at Crossroads or Laura's Home. Please call us with the details at (216) 431-3510 or email us.
  • Individuals or corporations considering funding our programs or major projects, please contact Jim Whiteman at (216) 431-3510 x 269 or via email.
  • Those looking to sponsor or donate items to an event, please contact Michaela Kekedy at (216) 431-3510 x 235 or email.

Get the word out on The City Mission - Whether it is telling those in need that you encounter in your daily life (download flyer on our services) or recruiting your family and friends or workplace, church, school or other organization to volunteer, collect items, or do a fundraiser for the Mission, we need your help!

  • We are also looking for people who can tell us about special events or opportunities in their own communities that the Mission should participate in and/or post information about the Mission on community bulletin boards- email us if you would like to help.

Participate in the Collaborate for a Greater Cleveland blog - Discuss your observations/suggestions about poverty and other issues for improving the lives of people in Cleveland, new or current projects, tell others about what your needs are for volunteers and more.
