Yes, it's summer but the new school year isn't far off! School supplies will be collected from July 2 - August 10 to assist hundreds of students and their families in the various programs of The City Mission each year. We hope to make the first distribution of supplies during the first week of August.
Note: We will accept and appreciate donations of these items after August 10 and throughout the year to meet ongoing needs.

The Need
We hope to collect about 500 backpacks and supplies for the children and teens involved in the Pathways program. This number includes those staying at Laura's Home averages 45 school age children and teens each night. Based on our experience from previous years, we also expect to see 50-60 more students who will come to Laura's Home with their mothers between September and December who are in need of school supplies.
Items Needed
Backpacks (solid colors work well for both boys and girls)
School supplies:
2-pocket folders, single-subject spiral notebooks, pencils, pens (10-packs in black, blue or red), ruler, pencil case or box, notebook (loose leaf) paper, erasers, markers, crayons, colored pencils, scissors, glue sticks or bottles of glue, protractors and flash cards
Shopping List
Additional items:
- Gently used school shoes or gift cards for purchasing new shoes
- Gift cards to purchase new school uniforms for students from Laura's Home
- New socks
- New underwear

WGAR's "Backpack Your Way Backstage" Campaign
July 2 - August 2
This year we are partnering with WGAR to collect some of the 500 backpacks we need. Donate a new backpack at any WGAR event between July 2nd and August 2nd to be qualified to win a great prize package at this year's Country Jam in August.
