“Locked into bringing Christ’s freedom to those locked up.”
"For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink,
I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me,
I was in prison and you came to visit me." Matthew 25:35-36 (NIV)
This is what the LORD says:"In the time of my favor I will answer you, and in the day of salvation I will help you;
I will keep you and will make you to be a covenant for the people, to restore the land and to reassign its desolate inheritances, to say to the captives, 'Come out,' and to those in darkness, 'Be free!'
They will feed beside the roads and find pasture on every barren hill." Isaiah 49:8-9 (NIV)
Our Jail and Prison Ministry is focused on teaching those behind bars where true freedom lays. We distributed 3,600 Bibles and New Testaments to men, women and teenagers who are incarcerated in various Ohio institutions over this last year.
The Jail and Prison Ministry needs dedicated men and women to minister to inmates in Cuyahoga County Jail and the 27 prisons around Ohio. For more details about these volunteer positions, please contact the Volunteer Ministry.
The following items are always in short supply but are very important to and much appreciated by the men and women we minister to who are incarcerated. Before donating any of these items to The City Mission, please email Brent Richards.
