Giving to The City Mission

The City Mission is supported solely by the generous donations from thousands of individuals, churches, businesses and foundations (we do not receive any city, county, state nor federal funding). There are many ways to give to The City Mission. Click on the links on the left or scroll down for more details.

• You could honor a loved one or remember a deceased friend or relative with a gift in his or her name through an Honor or Memorial Gift.

• The Mission can be blessed through bequests from estates and wills.

• Your company may offer a matching gift plans for their employees - call your Human Resources department to find out if it such a plan is available.

• You can give regularly by enrolling in Circle of Friends or through the United Way Pledge Card or the Combined Federal Campaign. See details below on each of these options.

• The City Mission offers Charitable Gift Annuities, which not only offer significant tax advantages but also provides the donor with income for life. We will gladly send you more information.

• You can donate qualified assets to The City Mission and at the same time avoid capital gains taxes and in most cases, their market value is deductible. Your financial advisor can help you determine the benefits you might expect.

• Meet a special need at one of our ministries. Click on the tab to the left for specific items.

Circle of Friends

The Circle of Friends is a caring group of people who send a gift every month to help the homeless and the hurting in Cleveland. Much of our funding comes only at the end of the year during the holiday season. Our Circle of Friends provide a regular source of funds to help us minister to the hurting in our community regardless of the season.

To Join

It's easy - you choose the amount and the date to process. And you can change or cancel at any time.

Giving Company Stock

If you would like to make a donation of company stock, please email our Director of Finance. Please include your telephone number and the best time to call. Materials will be sent to you by email.

Giving to The City Mission through United Way's Pledge Card

The City Mission does not receive any funds from United Way since we are not one of their agencies. However you can donate to the Mission by designating us on the United Way Pledge Card (click here to view sample in new window). 

Some employers match or double match their emloyees' contributions when they donate through the United Way campaign.

How to complete the United Way Pledge Card:

In the section labeled 4: Optional Section (see * at the bottom of the card) for "Other Northeast Ohio Health and Human Service Organizations," enter "The City Mission" "Cleveland, Ohio" and the amount you would like to donate. Note: a minimum donation of $50 is required to use this form.

Combined Federal Campaign

The Combined Federal Campaign of United Way gives federal employees the option to participate in payroll deductions to give regularly to the The City Mission. The City Mission is listed as an approved agency with an assigned code. Please call us if you are unable to locate it in the instruction booklet.

Electronic Check Processing

In order to be more efficient in handling your contribution checks, The City Mission uses a check scanner to process your checks in the office. This will turn your paper check into an electronic check transaction. You may notice that your gift will appear as an electronic transaction on your banking statement and will clear your account faster.
