Each year, The City Mission distributes approximately 1800 Holiday Food Baskets -1000 for Thanksgiving and 800 for Christmas. Each family will receive the main ingredients for a complete holiday meal (including the turkey) that they can cook at home plus food staples to help them get through the end of the month. Distribution will be made to families and through agencies who work with the Mission to their clients.
The City Mission distributes new toys and games annually to the children in our Pathways Youth Program, at Laura's Home, and those whose non-custodial parents live at either Crossroads and Laura's Home. The remaining toys are distributed to the general public. Toys must be new, unwrapped and can be for any age from infants through teens.
Every day of the year, The City Mission provides three meals a day to those staying at Crossroads and Laura's Home, snacks to the children attending our Pathways Youth Program and for our various special events. On the Sunday before Thanksgiving, we provide the traditional meal and great entertainment to approximately 800 men, women and children from all over downtown Cleveland, including the other shelters in the city. The "Time for a Change" awards are also presented by participating homeless shelters to the individuals who have most changed their lives during the past year. They will come by bus, car, vans and on foot. Invitational flyers are distributed around town on Friday afternoon.
This is our annual compaign for personal care items (soap, shampoo, deodorant, feminine hygiene items, diapers, etc.) that will be distributed throughout the year.
