Laura's Home Women's Crisis Center

Laura's Home Celebrated 9th Birthday on Feb. 14, 2012!

Laura's Home clients Laura's Home opened on February 14, 2003 to serve women and children who are in-crisis, often dealing with multiple issues in their lives. The structure and programming is similar to our Crossroads Men’s Crisis Center.

Sometimes they are referred to as “homeless” but their situation is always more complex than simply not having a place to sleep indoors.

Laura's Home client in learning centerWe serve as a bridge to the local church and community by providing safety, security and stability to some of the most vulnerable in our society, and provide hope that their future does not have to be the same as their past.

In February, 2012, we added 22 beds to meet the continuing need for safe shelter for the growing numbers of homeless women and children that had created spikes up to 129 people on a night. This addition brings our total to 157 beds in 53 rooms.

Last year:  Laura’s Home provided 56,379 meals and 38,082 nights of shelter to 532 women and 374 children in crisis. We helped 160 women and 109 children as they worked through our 180-day Long-term Program.

On June 18, 2011, we celebrated 57 women who proudly graduated at our Crisis Services Commencement Ceremony.

Father Absence is Key Issue for Men, Women and Children in Crisis

No father is perfect, however, the absence of a father, either physically or emotionally, is the single most significant predictor of developmental problems in a child’s life.
